Staging for Photos and this Pink Petite Dresser

Anyone else LOVE staging their photos as much as they do painting? I definitely do. This is always my favorite work day - the one I reveal my newest makeover + stage and photograph the piece.

I went outside and clipped a few small branches from our holly tree, wrapped a couple of boxes, hung the curly willow branch on the wall with some ornaments ( off our own tree ) and voila!! It took a little time, but I have fun doing it and the effort shows... I hope!

I used the same Spoonflower paper on the dresser to make the Christmas trees.  I  had a little left over and these were easy to make.  I'll also be able to hang on to them and use for another photo down the road.

This dresser is solid wood but in a very distressed condition so instead of covering it completely with paint, I chose to highlight all of the imperfections.  I love how the grain wears through the paper. This aviary paper lends itself to a more vintage look, almost like wallpaper. Knobs from Anthropologie.

Pink is not for everyone, I get it but sometimes it's necessary, like when you have a sweet little girl getting a big girl bed.  The paper was my inspiration and I love the way it turned out.  I see it setting next to a Jenny Lind spindle bed or maybe even an antique iron one.

Happy Wednesday!

Blush Pink Triple Dresser

Some little lady needs this dresser in her room, don't you think?

The ornate detail is highlighted by the glossy white paint and well, the hardware is irreplaceable.  No way I'd have found anything better!

Hope you are all enjoying your summer!

Tribal and Denim Dresser

What little boy wouldn't LOVE to have this dresser in his room / playroom? I found this tribal paper and think it looks perfect on piece.

This dresser is now available on my Etsy shop, The Turquoise Iris.

I'll be sharing a few more painted pieces in the next week or so!

Ombre in Shades of Blue

I've never attempted an ombre finish before and this week I did two!  I had so much fun mixing 8 different colors to get these 5 I used here on this antique dresser.  I added the blue mercury glass knobs and I think they look like little jewels. Overall, this was one of my most fun pieces to ever paint. Hope you enjoy the "before and after".

My brother in law painted the large Santa painting for me last year.  Isn't it gorgeous?

Here is the dresser before I painted it...

I'll be linking this dresser makeover up to Miss Mustard's Friday Furniture Feature. Click the link and take a look at all the amazing makeovers!!

Happy Friday!

Vintage Dresser in White and Mint

How much good details can we throw in to one piece of furniture??
Check out the design on these drawers? Look at the gold chain hardware!
And, the white and green are so gorgeous together!

Oh, hello gold chain hardware!  Where have you been my whole life?

I posted a photo on Instagram of some possible options for this piece.  I knew I wanted to do white on the drawer fronts.  It gives them such a classic look.  The base, however, needed to be a different color.  This look gives it an updated, more modern style.  Most of my followers chose a color called, "Fountain of Youth".  It was a gorgeous soft aqua but I wanted green.  I'm not sure why, but that's what I was feeling for this dresser.

I can see this piece in a variety of different rooms.  It has TONS of storage and is very well made.  It is listed on my Etsy shop, The Turquoise Iris.  Let me know what you think.  And, if you are not already following me on Instagram, please do so!  Come on!! @theturquoiseiris

Happy Wednesday,

Mid Century Tango with Tangerine Dresser

It's spicy, sweet, sour and salty all in one!!

I love this fresh happy color on the mid century dresser.  I used a sunshine yellow and combined it with a "mis-tint" coral shade I bought for $2.00 at Ace Hardware.  I saw a piece painted by Rhino Restoration, admired the color and did my best to mix something pretty close.

I always have to mix it up a bit, can't help myself. This gray and white paper on the drawers really pops off the tangerine.

This wall covering is from Urban Outfitters.  They sell tons and they are inexpensive.

My pretty white "thrift store" giraffe is so cool.  She makes everything look better!

One more thing...Friends,
If you are not already, please check me out on Instagram @theturquoiseiris

Thanks and have a beautiful day!

Cobalt Blue and Gold Mid Century Dresser

I may have a new favorite color!  This deep saturated blue is amazing, especially on this mid century dresser.  The original gold bow tie hardware really pops off this color.  I made the art work too, had to use this blue in more than one place!

OOH LALA!!!

I used "Work of Art" by Clark + Kensington paint for this piece.  It covered beautifully!

This lovely thing is available today on my Etsy site, The Turquoise Iris.

Happy Wednesday!!
