The "IRIS" Behind The Turquoise Iris

As my business continues to grow, I thought it might be fun to share these photos with you.  These two are the "Iris" behind my business name, The Turquoise Iris.  My grandmother is Julia Iris and my mother is Marilyn Iris.  This photo was taken over 18 years ago and I miss my grandmother so much.  Both of these ladies exude class, integrity and courage, all of which I've tried to build my business around.
At my brother's wedding

I encourage you, in choosing a name for your own business, to use words that will remind you of where you came from and where you are going.

Coral Crushing

Check out this old oak buffet I found last week!

I haven't distressed a piece of furniture in so long.  This felt really good!

I found these large mercury glass knobs and knew they would be perfect with this coral color.

Honestly, you can't be anything but happy when you see this color.
It's just so good!!

Is "Ombre Ikat" a Good Description?

Trash to Treasure may be a better term to use.  Have a look at the before photo first...

Let's just say I walked passed this one week after week.  I wasn't feeling anything so I ignored it, until one day last week!  The sun was shining and I guess I felt brave and decided to take on this dresser.  It was so fun to do and I'm confident I'll remember it for years to come!

And just LOOK at that hardware!!!! Way too good to replace, right?

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend full of sunshine.  It's supposed to be 60 degrees here in Oklahoma!  Can I get a "woot?"

I'll be participating in Miss Mustard Seed's Friday Furniture Feature! If you need inspiration, go check it out.

Tribal and Denim Dresser

What little boy wouldn't LOVE to have this dresser in his room / playroom? I found this tribal paper and think it looks perfect on piece.

This dresser is now available on my Etsy shop, The Turquoise Iris.

I'll be sharing a few more painted pieces in the next week or so!

I painted this piece in a Tiffany blue and highlighted the details with teal. There is also a shelf for the center area. (not pictured) Inside the doors are large filing drawers and one shelf. This piece is vintage 1980's, solid wood and in excellent condition.

Oh my UGLY goodness!!  Here is the "before" photo!

Stay warm, my friends!!
