Gorgeous Vintage Turquoise Chest & a Short Video Clip

This is the second piece of the five I'm painting in cold color inspired by old doors from around the world.  I'm always pinning images to my "doors" board on Pinterest. So, I asked myself why do I love these so much and my answer is the colors, the authentic look of wear and the structural shapes of the doors themselves.  Painting like this and dreaming about my next makeover keeps my brain energized and fulfills my creative nature.

Have a look!

When I began staging, I looked around everywhere and could not come up with the perfect art piece for the wall.  So, I ran to Hobby Lobby for a canvas and made my own using the colors from the dresser.

BEFORE & AFTER

Like the first of this series, this dresser sold in just a few minutes of being listed on my Etsy shop!  I have so many great customers!!!

Thank you and have a wonderful day!,

A Classic White & Navy & Gold Dresser Makeover

This dresser had gorgeous details and hardware already.  I just added a contrast so these details could stand out a little more.  Don't you all love a classic color combo?

BORING before pic...

Fresh flowers really make a photo come alive! I have no excuse for not using them in every. single. photo.

Time to put the paint up for a few days and get to holiday decorating;-)

Black, Brass & Malachite

Look at this gem.

.....

I bought this malachite paper from Spoonflower over the summer and I've searched for the perfect piece to paint black and add this dramatic look.  I polished the brass hardware because it's simply gorgeous. I think this would be lovely just about anywhere someone wanted to add a classically sophisticated look. The size is perfect for most rooms.

Mint Green Ombre' Dresser and Me

It's time for another ombre' piece, my friends!  This time I used a mint green as my base color and had the lightest color fade to dark and then light again.

I've been advised by other online business owners to personalize my work.  Do you think this oughta do it?!?!? Consumers are more likely to shop online if they feel a connection with the artist / owner.  So, here I am again, making a quick appearance.

Happy Friday to all of you!! Make the best of your Memorial Day weekend.

Other Tidbits from The Turquoise Iris

I often post photos on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and forget to post them here on my blog.  I flipped through a few on my phone and decided to share a few today.

The picture to the right is me.  I didn't have anything to paint that day so I played with pictures instead!

The shop where I sell my furniture now, Robinson's Eclectic Marketplace, asked me to submit a description of my business and work for them so this is what I put together. Since writing that, I've been thinking more and more about the direction I'd like to take my business.  I still have so many questions in the air!

The last three images are all pieces I've painted and wanted to give them a little more attention or highlight some of their details. I love seeing the texture and layers of paint up close but it's often hard to capture that through a camera.

The coral cabinet and the metallic round table are currently available!

Enjoy your week!

The Royal Blue Peacock Buffet

I present to you, Her Royal Peacock.

This piece turned out very dramatic.  The blue, with the gold, combined with the peacock makes for quite an appearance!

I think she is just. so. lovely.

This is a poster applied to the doors, not paint.  I sold this piece before I could even post this but I still wanted to share it.

Have a wonderful weekend!

My Week in Makeovers

At some point, I may get tired of this color. Whether you call it emerald or jade or kelly, I LOVE it!! It especially glows when paired with another jewel tone.

This piece is for sale today on my Etsy shop, The Turquoise Iris.

I see this vintage cabinet in an entryway, foyer or hall but the size will allow it to hangout in any room of your home.

Secondly, I painted this antique desk for a friend.  She has three daughters that will use this as a computer desk.  It is old but solid and I wanted to glam it up a bit for these stylish teens.
