That's a wrap, my Friends!!

This is #5 of Part III in my "Doors" Series. 

I loved every minute of this series. Not only did I learn new techniques, I also explored my own creativity and allowed myself to just "play" with the paint.  I started using Heirloom Traditions Paint and fell in love with their colors, especially Steamer Trunk, Feathered Nest and Alexandrite.  

I have been pinning door images on my Pinterest page titled, Doors Around the World.  This collection of images has been the greatest source of inspiration for me. I encourage you all to find something that inspires, motivates and helps to develop your creativity.  It's so rewarding and actually very necessary for some of us!

I think this piece is perfect for almost any room.  It's small enough to accent a hall or entry but the drawers are large enough to hold plenty of linens or clothing.

See The Old Doors that Inspired this Hand Painted Multi Colored Large Armoire Furniture Makeover

BEWARE!!!

You are either going to L-O-V-E this makeover to pieces, hate it with a big Y-U-C-K, or think I've lost my mind.  That's okay, though.  I've learned and began to believe it's best for me to paint for myself and not for the mainstream.  It's more important to me to create a one-of-a-kind original piece of furniture than to stay in the "safe zone". There are some amazing furniture painters / artists that I admire and aspire to in regards to business handling.

 I, however, am enjoying going my own way creatively. 

This is #5 in my "Doors" series, Part II. This armoire is huge and already had such a great shape to it.  I really wanted to give it a dramatic makeover...mission accomplished.

This is the image from my Doors board on Pinterest that inspired my painting technique.  I created my own color palette but kept it similar to this one.  It packs a punch full of color, charm, and authenticity.

See the drip? Well, that took some courage!
We are told paint drips are bad...felt like a REBEL! It was fun but for anyone that knows me personally, rebel is not a name you'd use to describe me.

I'm making plans for my next series but haven't decided on a theme.  My ideas include a Part III Doors series, a group of makeovers inspired by pastels and gold leaf or a group themed by wildflowers.  

Any suggestions? I'd love to hear them.

Hand Painted Magenta and Teal Desk Furniture Makeover

Oh, and did I mention yellow, also?

I mean really, how could I paint magenta and teal and NOT add yellow...their complimentary friend on the color wheel? 

I recently finished a series of 5 furniture pieces inspired by the bold color and worn weathered finishes of old doors, European in particular.  I received such an overwhelming response to these that I decided to do a Part 2. I have already sold 4 of the 5 pieces in the first series and here is the 1st in the 2nd series, not for the beige lovers.

These two canvas art pieces are included with the purchase of this piece. 

For those of you that follow me on social media, I posted this image last week. The colors grabbed me by the collar and said, "Here, this one next!" - for real...
The response agreed with the voice so I went for it but toned down the turquoise by choosing the darkest shade in the photo. 

Obviously this piece would be great in an office or bedroom but I'm intrigued by the idea of creating a "wine bar" or "coffee bar" with this piece. It would be such an easy way to create color in an existing kitchen / dining space without painting your own cabinets or island.

I'm already planning the next one, #2 in this series, and will have it ready to show you next week!

A Gorgeous Teal Green Dresser Furniture Makeover #5 of My Series

Confession...

I didn't want this dresser when I first saw it...walked right past it, actually.

I'm SOOO glad I went back and bought this dresser! It was the perfect piece to do this finish on.  The grain of the wood, the drawers ad hardware all together allowed me to create this patina with the color scheme I chose.  

This is the fifth piece in my series, all inspired by the rustic, old doors I see in images from Europe and all over the world.  The colors grab me, make me feel like I'm there, on vacation. Well, I love that, love it so much, I have a board on Pinterest titled, Doors. The image above is the one that inspired this colour palette. 

I also painted the canvas art to be included in the purchase of the dresser...#BONUS.

The broken light fixtures were a contribution from my husband.  I think they make great styling props!

I love me some malachite and marble!  Both of those rolls of gift wrap were left over from previous makeovers. 

I hope you enjoy this furniture makeover.  I find the colours absolutely mesmerizing.

Hand Painted Wardrobe to Compliment Any Colour Scheme Before & After

This is #3 in my series of pieces inspired by the old doors of Europe.  I added the picture below to show you the door that inspired the paint colors, style, etc.

This is four paint colors and two stain colors. It's so fun to see how they all work together.  I never really know how my vision will all come together until I really stand back and have a good look.

Here is the BEFORE photo.

The door on the left was my inspiration.  I opted for more blue in my piece but the idea was similar. I absolutely LOVE the finish. 

Time to get started on the next one!
