Hand Painted Cobalt and White Furniture Makeover Inspired By Mexico Accented with an Otomi Print

Who doesn't LOVE a blue and white color palette?!?!
It's a classic combo but I had to add some edge to this makeover.

This is #3 in my "Doors" Series, Part II. I've sold out of every piece so there may just have to be a Part III!!

I used Oxford, Steamer Trunk and Ol' Navy from Heirloom Traditions Paint again for this makeover. The Oxidized Patina wax, once again, gave this finish just the right amount of oomph!

Sky Soarer knobs and bowls from Anthropologie.

This is the door that inspired this colour palette and finish.  I really tried to recreate a worn and weathered look. I can't really explain how much fun this was to paint. I turned in to a 6 year old pretty quickly! Pinterest is a wonderful source for beautiful images, don't you think? I have a board titled, "Doors", if you are interested in following along.

I know, I really pushed the envelope here, but it was necessary here.  This maple buffet was just so drab. Otomi paper from Spoonflower. It's also available in a multi colored print.

I have to tell you, this buffet gave me over 900 views on my Etsy shop, The Turquoise Iris in 24 hours!! That, my friends, is AMAZING!! You guys are awesome.

Thanks as usual and have a lovely week!

p.s. I have a mustard yellow door on my brain...

My First Time to Use Heirloom Traditions Paint, Furniture Makeover in Navy and Coral

I was contacted by Paula with Heirloom Traditions Paint. She asked if I'd be interested in trying their paint. Well, sure!! I've heard wonderful things about the coverage and the line has so many beautiful colors, too. I chose 'Ol Navy from the Vintiques and Quite Coral from HTP. I also ordered the Oxidized Patina wax,  Burnt Umber Wax and the Ancient Agings Dust.
Have a look at my result!

I couldn't decide which color to paint this desk so I just used everything, because why not, right?!?!

I brushed some of the patina wax over the hardware, also.

I started staging this piece and nothing I had as far as art worked so I paused...grabbed the brushes full of paint and made my own little floral abstract!

This desk / vanity is listed for sale on my Etsy shop, The Turquoise Iris.

Thank you for viewing, hope you enjoy!

Teal and Gold Vanity

This is a vanity I painted for my sweet neighbor, Charis.  Her parents asked me to paint it for her 8th birthday. I love how it turned out...hope she does too!!

Happy Monday!!

Rustic Charm in Blues

This old dresser has been in the same family for 40 years...made by my friend's grandfather...with love. I painted it this week and enjoyed every single minute of it! Hoping the family can enjoy it another 40 years. I decided to use nature as my back drop this time and again, my inspiration for the finish comes from the glorious pages of Anthrpologie's catalog:)

And the "before"...

Happy Weekend, Friends!

Vintage Triple Dresser in Black and Gold

Sometimes I forget "black" is really a color when I'm searching through swatches! My client asked for a black piece similar to one she had seen in Potterybarn for her media components and television. I turned this vintage Bassett dresser into something she can hopefully use for many years to come. The hardware is original...I just spiffed it up with some gold. I admit, she chose a perfect "color"!

I'm always sneaking in some peacock feathers whenever and however I can;)

~~~This little business of mine has introduced me to some really great people, great friends and great inspiration! Today alone, I've already met two wonderful ladies that share my same sense of creativity and appreciate color. Thank you to all that have already allowed me to share a piece of myself in your precious homes! I'm looking forward to many more new relationships. I am having the time of my life!!!~~~
Peacock Buffet in Three Shades of Fab
I'm sure I will get bored with this combination, but when? I love it!!
I painted this piece last week and sold it locally, which means no shipping.
Woo hoo!!
Here is a peek at this before I made it pretty;)
Hope you all have a sunny and warm weekend!
Coral & Chevron Vintage Nightstnds
Just the right amount of funk appeal for these mates! Use these in your bedroom to add a whimsical vibe and color to your space.
I pictured these in a girls room, of any age really, flanking her bed with the coolest green glass lamps on them!
 This is paper on the drawer fronts...not paint;)
These are for sale here on my Etsy shop, The Turquoise Iris.
Vintage Yellow Dresser Distressed & Accented with Teal
I've been craving yellow, although I think it's actual sunshine I've been after, this color makes me just as happy.  This dresser was pretty boring but in mint condition so I gave it a make over in yellow with teal accents.
Whatcha think?
 This combination of rustic and glitz reminds me of denim and cashmere...sophisticated comfort.
This piece is for sale on my Etsy shop, The Turquoise Iris.
And, here is a before picture.
Just sitting there calling my name, wink...wink!
Teal Vintage Dresser / Buffet
I custom painted this piece for Erin of NJ.  She bought a yellow piece from me recently and wanted some color for her dining area as well. Hope she loves this!!
I also added these 2 cracked glass knobs from Anthroplolgie...in case this piece isn't dramatic enough...wink, wink;)
I found these lamps at a thrift shop for $6.98 for both and painted them this happy sunny yellow gloss.  I thought I'd just use them for staging, bit I think I really like them with my peacock shades.
This piece was already pretty great before...
take a look!
